Unifying the MillerKnoll Brand Story

When Herman Miller and Knoll needed to introduce their remarkable new merged identity as MillerKnoll, I felt eager to explore the possibilities. Distilling 16 legendary yet distinct brands into one narrative seemed daring and a little daunting.

Yet as I researched decades of archives, anxiety faded to awe. Every classic chair, table and sofa reflected the brands' rich heritage of imagination meets purpose. But how best to spotlight so many icons entwined with cultural memory?

Collaborating with an illustrator, we let the iconic designs speak first—chairs, sofas and tables as sculpture, animated by diverse characters using them. We traced MillerKnoll’s story from Herman Miller’s first humble factory through years of manufacturing innovations centered on elevating experience.

By the final scenes, the furniture's glow emerged—how grounded passion for design brings people together across ages and places. When leadership saw that shared vision, they asked us to share the video globally.

I learned that when words, images and ideas serve craft and community with creative care, they ripple inspiration well beyond us. Our film’s journey crystallized MillerKnoll’s heritage by first honoring their purpose greater than products alone.
